Frequently asked questions

- Will my carving crack?

Absolutely! its wood! if it doesnt crack bring it back and ill crack it for you! most of the cracks will be minor and will not affect the integrity of the piece. Infact many people believe the cracks add character. If there is an unsightly crack or a piece gets broke off we can fix it for a fee. We do everything we can to prevent wood cracking or judging where the log will crack before it does and orienting the piece so the crack is in a safe spot.

-How to order a custom piece?

The more information you can tell us about what you want the better we can help you. Send an email with the ideas you have in mind and pictures help too.

-How to care for a carving?

You can display your carvings anywhere. All of our carvings are treated with Uv and water protecting finishes. However too much sun light and moisture are going to shorten the lifespan of the piece. if outside it is best placed in spot where it will not get sun all day long. Raising your carving up off the ground with small paver stones will keep it from absorbing moisture from the ground. We recommend re sealing your carving yearly. If you have questions about how to re seal your piece send us an email with a picture of it and we can recommend what to use. For a fee we will also re finish it for you.

-How does pricing work?

Pricing varies depending on size, type of wood, amount of detail, and time spent. Contact us to discuss pricing for your dream carving.

-Where do you get your wood?

We love trees! Nearly all of our works are carved from dead and well seasoned white pine gathered from the nearby Uinta Mountains or local trees that have died or been damaged in a storm. We never harvest our wood from living trees. Removal of dead wood helps to reduce fuel for wildfires, and encourages new trees to flourish.
